I am so excited to get this school year underway! I live in the area with my husband and my son, Noah, who is a fourth grader. We have two dogs, Oscar and Fred, and a crested gecko, Hugo. I also have two grown sons. Nick is 23 and working in the tech field, and Sam is a junior at NIU majoring in pre-physical therapy. We love to travel and take cool side-trips to places like Iceland (in the picture) while we visit my husband's family in Sweden. Our family also spends much of our summers in northern Minnesota where we love to swim, fish, and make s'mores over a campfire on the beach.
Other than travel, I love to read, bike, hike, canoe, and cross country ski.
I have a Masters degree in Elementary Education from Roosevelt University and a BA in political science from Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota. I'm in my twelfth year of teaching and eighth year at Big Hollow. I've taught every grade from preschool to fourth. This will be my fifth year teaching second grade at Big Hollow.
I believe that kids learn best in a happy, low stress environment where they feel safe to take academic risks. I truly love second graders' unabashed enthusiasm! I can't wait to see how they grow! I'm looking forward to a fantastic year.
